Hottest Hot Sauce – Erroneous Claims

There are a few products on the market that claim to be 4,000,000, 7,000,000 SHU, etc. Some are legitimate, and some are not. Either way, please understand that at 3,000,000 SHU, capsaicin starts getting pretty thick, and it needs to be heated up in order to pour it from the bottle. 4,000,000 SHU is thicker still. At 6,000,000 it is a very thick paste, almost like road tar. At 16,000,000 it is pure crystal.

We are friendly with a competitor that make a 3,000,000, 4,000,000 and 5,000,000 product. The owner said he is ever frustrated by those items, because he gets constant complaints from customers that have purchased them. Here is the problem; they must be heated up in order to pour them. And it get’s worse. When you heat up extract a few times, it’s freshness and stability are compromised, so you would end up wasting at least 75% of the product! Does it make sense to pay more money only to throw most of it away? Of course not! Simply put, 3,000,000-5,000,000 SHU items are great for your collection, but they are a poor choice at best for daily use.

Here is another there is another little trick that some hot sauce companies use. They will use an extreme extract, let’s say 4,000,000 SHU and it is displayed on the bottle or in their ad copy. However, the sauce itself is not even close to that because it is either diluted by all of the other ingredients, or they did not put much in to start with, or both. In short, they are just preying on those that are chasing the Hottest Hot Sauce, which is sad. We don’t play that game at Screamin Demon Fiery Foods, nor will we carry such products.
